Educational objectives
- Outline current guidelines on the diagnosis, management, and treatment of high CV risk patients in the Gulf states
- Address treatment gaps between guidelines and clinical practice in CV risk management
- Highlight the need for effective and intensive treatment of dyslipidemia and atherosclerosis in patients at high risk of CVD
- Describe appropriate strategies for lowering LDL-C and identify different goals in diverse high-risk patients with dyslipidemia
- Discuss differences among statins in therapeutic efficacy that should be considered in making appropriate treatment decisions
- Discuss implications of recent guideline recommendations in blood pressure management for clinical practice
- Implement more custom made strategies for different patients at high CV risk
- Develop a consensus on practical guidelines for day-to-day management of high risk patients
