CME Accreditation
The Renal Master Class was accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME) for 7 CME hours and by the European Board for Accreditation in Cardiology (EBAC) for 6 CME hours.
Financial support
This Renal Master Class was sponsored through an unrestricted educational grant provided by Shire Pharmaceuticals.
Educational objectives of the Renal Master Class were:
- To review the epidemiology of chronic kidney disease
- To explore the mechanisms that underlie the progression of chronic kidney disease
- To define the cornerstones of current treatment of chronic kidney disease
- To specify the needs of both dialysis and predialysis patients
- To define goals in the management of metabolic and electrolyte disturbances
- To define the adequate nutritional needs in the CKD patient
- To improve therapy adherence in patients with chronic kidney disease
- To develop a consensus on practical guidelines for day-to-day management of patients with chronic kidney disease to achieve the best attainable health status
