Lowering LDL-c profoundly to very low levels is safe

LDL-c Key Lessons

Humans are used to living with very low cholesterol levels; newborns for example have LDL-c levels of around 40 mg/dL (about 1 mmol/L). LDL-c levels do not show a U-shaped curve with CV risk, like blood pressure does. Instead, a consistent association is observed between achieved LDL-c levels on lipid-lowering therapy and CV events, down to very low LDL-c levels.
