Agreement between EBAC and AMA on conversion of CME credit points
The European Board for Accreditation in Cardiology (EBAC) and the American Medical Association (AMA) have agreed on conversion of each other’s CME credit points. In 2015, EBAC and the Accreditation Council for CME (ACCME) already mutually recognized each other's accreditation systems. After this recognition, EBAC started to offer the possibility to convert American CME points to EBAC points for European participants.
Now the conversion of CME points is reciprocal and ‘constitutes a cornerstone in making substantial equivalency between accreditation systems relevant to learners’, according to Robert Schäfer, MD, CEO EBAC.
As of October 1, 2019, American participants can apply for conversion of their EBAC CME points to AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. This applies to the following activities:
- Live events
- Other presentations of CME/CPD
- Closed educational units of less than one hour
- Micro e-learning
