The CAPACITY COVID registry: a call to collect CV data of COVID-19 patients

News - Mar. 31, 2020

CAPACITY COVID is a registry of patients with COVID-19 across Europe and has been established to answer questions on the role of CVD in this pandemic. It is an extension of the Case Record Form (CRF) that was released by the ISARIC (International Severe Acute Respiratory and Emerging Infection Consortium) and WHO (World Health Organisation) in response to the emerging outbreak of COVID-19.

The aim of the CAPACITY registry is to collect data regarding CV history, diagnostic information and occurrence of CV complications in COVID-19 patients. By collecting this information in a standardized manner, CAPACITY can aid in providing more insight in incidence of CV complications in patients with COVID-19, and the vulnerability and clinical course of COVID-19 in patients with underlying CVD.

Initiator prof. dr. Folkert Asselbergs (Utrecht, The Netherlands) and the Dutch Cardiovascular Alliance): “In order to better treat patients with CVD and COVID-19, we urgently need to learn from patients who are now or soon hospitalized. We understand that there is a high demand on those working in healthcare. Therefore, we tried to simplify this registry as much as we could and hope that this soon results in improved care for patients with the life threatening combination of CVD and COVID-19.”
