E-cigarettes and vaping products have gained popularity as these products have been touted as a safer alternative to combustible cigarettes and as a potential tobacco-cessation product. This scientific statement discusses the use of e-cigarette and vaping products in the US, the harmful and potentially harmful components in vaping aerosols, and the effects of these products on acute and chronic cardiovascular and pulmonary health, based on molecular, animal, and clinical data.
