AHA 2017 BRUISE-CONTROL 1 showed an 80% reduction in device pocket hematoma with warfarin continuation vs bridging around device surgery. BRUISE-CONTROL 2 evaluated peri-procedural continuation vs interruption of DOACs. The study had a neutral outcome, still some important lessons can be drawn from it.
