New guidelines for the management of arterial hypertension

The 2023 European Society of Hypertension (ESH) guidelines for the management of arterial hypertension has been published.

The European Society of Hypertension (ESH) published a new guideline on the management of arterial hypertension, taking into account new insights and developments in the hypertension field. The 2023 ESH guidelines are aimed to provide educational information on arterial hypertension.

The guideline provides information on the pathophysiology, diagnosis, monitoring, and management of hypertension. New data of RCTs and other clinical studies such as real-world studies, as well as mechanistic studies have been included. In comparison to previous guidelines, the 2023 guidelines discusses certain topics more in depth that were previously discussed only briefly. New topics such as recommendations on the management of hypertension in children, adolescents and adolescents transitioning to young adults have also been included.
