Left ventricular hypertrophy has been recognized as an entity of hypertrophy cardiomyopathy (HCM) for hundreds of years. Many etiologies have been discovered since the beginning of the description of HCM. It is important to identify the etiology in a patient with HCM as it drives the treatment plan for these patients.
